I’m passionate about falconry, it is not a hobby but a way of life that involves continuous learning, problem solving, hard work and dedication; although deeply satisfying is also highly demanding. Most of my days from August through to May are spent in the field. True falconers go above and beyond to invest as much time in the field to give their birds as much freedom as possible. I work with a maximum of two birds of prey on my experience days (currently a Bonelli’s Eagle and Harris’ Hawk) this gives them the necessary time in the field, helps nurture a symbiotic relationship and also maintains a good standard of fitness, as well as giving them the freedom and enrichment they deserve.
My falconry experiences are of the highest standard and should not be confused with other ‘Falconry/Bird of prey Centre Experiences’ you may see advertised. There’s no large groups or wasted tea break or mid day pub time or restricted arena flying. You will be in the field, witnessing the birds flying free for hours, at heights up to 2000ft, covering 40 plus miles. I am not a falconry centre. To achieve a close bond and hunting partnership with a raptor, you have to spend enormous amounts of time with them (hours per day flying). This cannot be achieved by owning multiple birds.
I don’t do bird tricks or sit my birds on perches for days on end without being flown. I never attend village fetes and I refuse to let my birds sit all day at country fairs, or be passed around from glove-to-glove getting stressed at schools, weddings or any public events. My birds are flown free in open fields and countryside everyday, they are not tethered, and are free-lofted on return to the safety of their aviary.
My definition of the ART is to fly the birds as close to their natural wild state as possible, allowing clients a unique and privileged insight into the elusive raptors world. If you wish to see my birds, you can only watch them on their terms, In the countryside flying free. Living their lives as close to their wild cousins as possible.
My aim is to reconnect clients to the natural world. You will be guided towards tasting true freedom whilst escaping the modern world. Raptors teach us about the huge importance of time, along with the dangers of the materialistic Western world. They allow those that are willing to tune-in, a secret key to their elusive mindset, which enables us to unlock and reconnect to the tranquility of the natural world. My falconry days are more than an escape; they are a journey back to the essence of who you are. A transformative experience that will resonate long after…
